About us
We are located in central Oslo, and specialize in enamel. Our handcrafted enamel jewellery is made in the workshop,
and can be purchased from most jewellery shops in the country.
Ole Petter Rasch–Olsen took over from Finn Jensen and established Opro Produkter AS in 1976.
Today, it is owned and managed by her daughter June Rasch–Olsen, while Ole Petter does everything nobody else can do.
Her sister, Trine Rasch–Willumsen takes care of the Internet, photos, brochures and other marketing activities.
The rest of the team consists of – Unni Grønstad, Stina Pedersen og Anna Katharina Garmeister.
When you walk through our doors, it’s like going back 50 years. Time has, in many ways, stood still since Ole Petter started Opro in 1976.
There have been new coats of paint of course, and some new machinery has been introduced,
but the tools and the workbenches will probably never be replaced. Sometimes, the oldest is the best.
People are quite ecstatic when they come to visit us, becauseworkshops like ours are rare in today’s society.
Even the smell is the same as it was when June and Trine ran around the place as children.
Many people have asked us about the origin of the name Opro. The answer is very simple; it is an acronym for Ole Petter Rasch–Olsen.
When June took over the management of the company, Ole Petterhad only one specific request, namely that she did not change the name.
We have, instead, engaged in PR activities to get people’s attention. We will always retain the solid name that Ole Petter spentyears building up.
In the workshop, ceilings are high and there is always laughter in the air. The jars are filled with enamel in all colours of the rainbow,
there are huge machines for different uses, and the radio is on. The user instructions for the various machines are written by hand on the walls using a market pen.
Every single piece of jewellery is handcrafted, and has to go through at least 18 stages before it is ready for sale.
We hope more people will learn to appreciate enamel, learn about us and this genuine ancient craft.
and can be purchased from most jewellery shops in the country.
